Amanda Banks' Biography

Amanda Banks is Vice President of The Wabash Group. Amanda brings four years experience in government relations with a leading pro-family organization to TWG. She specializes in public affairs, including direct lobbying, grassroots activism, and communications.

Before joining The Wabash Group, Banks served as federal policy analyst for Focus on the Family from 2003 to 2007. She acted as the organization's chief liaison to the U.S. Congress, representing tens of thousands of families as she lobbied for pro-family legislation.

Amanda analyzed legislation for Focus on issues including bioethics, marriage, and religious liberty. She acted as media spokesperson, interviewing regularly on outlets including CNN, The Washington Post, L.A. Times, and National Journal. Banks was a regular contributor to CitizenLink daily e-mail news service and Citizen magazine, and prepared Dr. James Dobson for media interviews and radio broadcasts on federal policy issues. Amanda gained tremendous experience developing direct and grassroots lobbying strategy during her tenure at Focus.

Prior to working for Focus on the Family, Banks served as Deputy Finance Director to congressional candidate Brose McVey in his 2002 Indianapolis campaign. In the 2000 election cycle, she coordinated student efforts at Indiana University in Congressman John Hostettler's campaign and interned for Rep. Hostettler in his Washington, D.C. office.

A native of Indianapolis, Amanda majored in public policy at Indiana University where she graduated with honors with a B.S. in public affairs. In 2005, Amanda became Mrs. James Banks. Amanda and Jim now reside in Columbia City, Indiana.
